Chapter Five

Ralphy and Timbo’s Dilemma

Behind a higher than usual waterfall in Easterdale, Ralphy and Timbo were rather glum, this on top of being unfriendly, miserable, grumpy and damp, was not good.

They had spent the best part of the morning trying to open The Friendly Troll Book of Secrets but they had had no success at all. They had tried every magic word they knew, they had even made up several words that sounded magic but of course they didn’t work either.

On the damp floor of the lodging, lay a rusty saw, a rusty crowbar, a rusty hammer and a rusty chisel.  That had tried all of the tools they had.  If they had known what dynamite was, they would have been in trouble, thankfully they didn’t.

They had completely run out of ideas and as they had been up all night walking to Werserdale, steeling The Friendly Troll Book of Secrets and walking back to Eeasterdale, they were by now, very tired indeed.  So now, on top of being unfriendly, miserable, grumpy, damp and glum they were also very tired.

What were they going to do, they agreed they would get some sleep first.  Then see if they could find someone they could trust, someone stronger or smarter than them, that they could get to help them open The Friendly Troll Book of Secrets.

Ralphy went to his damp bedroom and Timbo said he was going to sleep on Ralphy's settee, rather than going back to his own lodging.  It wasn’t that far to Timbo's lodging, he just didn’t trust Ralphy alone with the book at all.
